What is Script Monitor Extension for IBM Director?
Script Monitor Extension for IBM® Director makes it easy to connect monitoring scripts with an API in the IBM Director product. IBM Director supports the extension of Resource Monitor with a Java™ or C++ API (application programming interface). In order to add monitored items to Resource Monitor, developers must write monitoring scripts by the rules of standard output (STDOUT).
How does it work?
The IBM Director SDK extension module (dirext.jar) implements Resource Monitor interfaces (which are called "Monlet" in the IBM Director SDK documentation). This extension module launches a monitoring script, evaluates the STDOUT according to convention, and updates Resource Monitor data.
The agent generator tool (mongen.rb) generates agent source code and a configuration file that inteprets STDOUT from a monitoring script. The generated code can be compiled and deployed without any modifications.
